Back in October of 2011 I went down to Austin, TX to visit some friends, but I also wanted to take a ride down to Bastrop where they fell victim to massive forest fires throughout the area. By the time I got there the fires were extinguished and a lot of cleanup had already taken place. We drove through the wooded highways in awe of the destruction and silence all around us.
It really is strange how fire behaves sometimes. Some houses were completely engulfed, leaving nothing behind but the chimney and dust while their neighbors home seemed untouched by the blaze. Cars melted down to almost nothing, trees burnt black to a crisp and scorched earth caving in beneath our feet. More to come…
